OVERCOMER

Revelation 12:11, “And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.” (ESV)

The moment you stepped into Christ is the moment you stepped into a life of overcoming. A covenant sealed by the blood of the lamb. You made a declaration when you said, “I am stepping into the blood saved life.”. You must believe it, receive it, talk like it, see yourself in it, act like it! So, you can live as an overcomer!

1 John 5:4-5, “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith. Who is it that overcome the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”.

Let’s start here. You do not have to acquire what you already are, what God already gave you. As you can see, 1 John tells us exactly who we are and how God intended us to walk this life. Let me put it to you this way; you cannot enjoy all the “new car things”, if you do not go accept the keys. My friend, you have to walk in that which is already yours! You do not have the job of obtaining what Jesus already did. Your job is to maintain what He already did. I cannot stress this enough; you need to live in the results of what Jesus has already done for you. That is amazing! So, why are so many believers continually running around trying to overcome what God already overcame? Great question! This is actually a multiple answer question.  1) There is a lack of knowledge, 2) They do not know how to be intimate with God, 3) (And this is a big one!), Lack of Identity. Any of these sound like you? Me too! The struggles of the world may be real, but they are just as real as the victory!

• Lack of knowledge. You cannot step into what God has for you, without revelation of it. Believers live every day still struggling with things like addictions, healing, sin, etc. Why? Because they have a lack of knowledge of who God is. A lack of knowledge of who God is and what He has done for us. We cannot walk in the inheritance God has for us, without first knowing these things.
• Lack of intimacy. Know how to be intimate with God! It will change everything for you! Much like being married, it cannot be just a ring on your hand or a title on your name. If you do not have intimacy in your marriage, how do you even know who you are married to? We as people call proximity, intimacy! This, this is such a big problem. Intimacy with the Holy Spirit, is the key to unlocking all that God has for you!
• Lack of identity. A large majority of believers, sadly, allow their flesh to be stronger than their spirit. Why? It’s a lack of identity. You will not walk in the fullness of what God has called you to be, if you do not know who you are. This identity has been robbed of you by your flesh and is the main thing the enemy targets in us. But you are standing in the middle of God’s word, right now! He spoke out of His imagination and created the world.

Genesis: 1:26-2, “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (ESV)

We are going to dig in on this one. You need to get this down on the inside of you! When God wanted you, He spoke to himself. You are created of God! Not even the angles were created like you. Say wwwhhhhaaaatttt!? YUPPP! You are Him and He Loves you! Actually, He is in love with you. The very first thing He gave to man, was identity, His identity. This is why, if you do not know who you are, you will not overcome. You were made on purpose for a purpose. There is NOT another like you, for He made us each unique. God’s testimony of you, should be your testimony about you. If God didn’t & doesn’t say it about you, neither should you. Say this with me, “If God didn’t and doesn’t say it about me, I will not say it or believe it!” GOOD!

You will never strengthen your spirit, without coming into agreement with the word, because this is coming into agreement with God. Build your spirit so you will stop fleshing out! The one that is going to win, is the one you feed the most. What do you want to win in your life? Your flesh or your spirit? It takes your determination to get stronger. How do you do that, you ask? By reading the word, by praying in the spirit, by putting on your God given identity! These all position you to overcome your flesh!

2nd Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (ESV)

So many believers live a defeated life, even though the overcomer is within them.

Do not build on opinions, especially your own. You must go to truth and build off of The Truth. Don’t budge off the word of the Lord. Stand firm! Take on the identity that God has bestowed upon you. Live the truth of your God given identity. What good is it to have an open book test in this life, with the book of life in your hands, if you are not using or do not use it?

Live in the results of what Jesus did for you. Live, as an overcomer!
