You are supposed to overcome, not just live with failure!
Hebrews 12:1-2, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and every sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (ESV)
The enemy knows you cannot be affective if you are held down in this weight. One of those weights, is the big F. . . Yap, failure. When overcoming the weight of failure, remember, God IS greater than your failure. It is a weight you are not supposed to carry in this life. Do not look down on yourself, failure is not final! Say it out loud, failure is NOT final! God is bigger than your compromise, mess ups, failures, you name it. If you are carrying this weight, it will bleed out and disrupt those lives around you. God’s word is full, and I do mean full, of testimonies of how the failure is NOT final.
Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (ESV)
When Jesus died on the cross, so did you. He really did and you really did, He covered you friend! His love is unfailing and changes not. God looks at your faith, not your failure. God is a respecter of Faith, not persons. Now, let’s get it down in your spirit. Say it with me, failure is not final!
As Philippians 3:12-16 states, forget what is behind you and look forward. Your response to failure is your choice. It is not failure that defines you, but your response to the failure. Do not have a character of failure. Leave your past in the past and be more loyal to your future. Seriously, if you hold onto failure, it can be poison to your future!
1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (ESV)
Did you hear that? You have a promise! If God threw it out of remembrance, who are you to bring it back up? Shove that old man back in the grave and remind him he is dead. You walk out in freedom not failure. All that old dead flesh wants to do, is remind you of failure. And that is not what God made you an overcomer for.
Truth nugget: You, yes you! Are your own worst enemy because you do not take your thoughts captive. Failure …. is in your mind. And yes, I am waiving my hands in the air in wiggling my fingers, LOL! It is true! Take your thoughts captive! God is not bringing you condemnation. The devil planted a seed and because you didn’t take the thought captive, now you are stewing on it.
Maybe you are the kind of person who doesn’t even start something because you are so afraid to fail? Read Matthew 14:27-32. Look at Peter’s Faith, not failure. Peter would have never walked on water if he was afraid of failure. Are you looking for blessing or expecting failure? If you are looking for failure, what do you expect to find? A goat? Maybe an ice cream bar? Get out of the boat of comfort and step into the faith it takes to see the greater outcomes. God is right there! Here Peter walked on water, TWICE, and you haven’t even stepped out of the boat. Why did Peter not hesitate to step out on the water? Because he already experienced the word of The Lord. Peter did not fear and he trusted God. Be dependent on God and trust Him at His word. Walk on the word of the Lord!
Alright, with all that said, I need to say, take God out of the box! For the burning cookies’ sake! God wouldn’t call you to something if you were not prepared for or called to it. Every person who has ever left an impact on the world, has failed. Failure gives you your greatest lessons in life. That is, if you let it. Can someone say, PERSPECTIVE! There is a grace and an anointing for your path. And your failure can simply be a reset. A stepping stone to your greater path!
Proverbs 24:16, “for the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.” (ESV)
Do not give life to your failures. On that note, do not make excuses either! Excuses always come from pride. You cannot overcome failure without taking responsibility for the failure. Once you take ownership, humility can rush in. Allow humility to usher in everything you need. Do you know what follows failure? Opportunity! Like a hound on a fox trail, opportunity is on the heels of failure! Failure does help shape you, but it does not define you. Failure cannot keep you down if you do not let it. You already have what it takes! You are being called into something bigger and more wonderful than you can imagine. You just cannot go carrying failure and you can’t go if you are afraid of it.
Say it with me, my failure is not final! Again, out loud! My failure is not final!
You cannot look forward if you are looking back. Push off the failure, do not hold onto it, for you are an overcomer! Praise the Lord!
