The 5 Stepping Stones 3, 4, & 5

Picking back up on these essential stepping stones in our walk with Christ that lead to walking in the purpose and vision He has for each of us.

3. Patience.

If we are being honest with ourselves, this is one topic we all really do not give enough attention to, for obvious reasons. With living in such a now culture, it is truly a discipline to apply patience in your everyday life. Looking at what the bible teaches about patience is going to change your perspective and help you in your understanding of why it is so important.

Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”(ESV)

As we learned in the Frustrated Faith segment of Purpose & Vision, we must have endurance. The biggest part of endurance is patience! Patience is having undeniable determination. Patience is staying in power, persevering, and patience is denying frustration. That is a deep one right there. The hardest season is when God is working IN you. King David was 13-15 when it was prophesied, he would be king. He didn’t get to step into that fulfillment until 15-17 years later! He was in a development season in his time of waiting. He was given a partial anointing and did not step into that full anointing until the appointed time. Our waiting seasons are never time wasted.

Your faith level will never grow past your patience level.

4. Position

Proverbs 4:23 “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” (ESV)

A pure heart develops Holy living. What you do and do not let in your heart matters. Whatever you let into your heart will either produce bondage or freedom. One of the sneaky things that defect our positioning, is bitterness. A lot of us have delt with this in one way or another. Bitterness will kill you from the inside out like a form of sickness. If you do not pay attention, it can consume you. Another way to negatively affect our positioning, is compromise. Living a compromised life is actually being double minded. We can not live just a “saved life”, we need to live out a surrendered life. Purity of heart is being fully surrendered to God. A pure heart is where God trusts you. The bible says the pure in hear twill see God.

Proverbs 17:3 “…But the Lord tests the heart. “

Our actions tell a story, but not the full story. God is looking at the whole story, He is looking at where your heart is positioned. He knows your heart has to be purified to bring the impurities out before He can take us to greater levels. The best part about this, is there is always going to be a better version of you. No matter our age, we have the opportunity to continually grow. God is growing each of us to be all he created us to be IN every season, your heart is determining your growth and your outcomes.

5. Motives

Proverbs 16:2 “All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord.” (ESV)

As people we tend to look over motives, but God cares about our every motive. Your motives are the underlining of everything you do. As the saying goes, you can do all the right things, for the wrong reasons. Motives are the very place your actions flow from. Your motives actually speak louder than your actions. That is really a statement to wrap our minds around. A good example of this would actually be David. David was a man with right motives. When he went through every trial and test, his motives did not change. Want to know if your motives are in the right place? How did you respond last time something was taken from you? Your motives are exposed when things are taken. Do you love God or what God gives? Do you ever stop to ask, Are my motives bringing glory to God or myself? What are your motives for serving God? What if there were to never be a blessing, would you still serve God?

The right motives, put God in the right places, for God to take us farther.

Proverbs 16:3-4 “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. The Lord works out everything to its proper end-…..” (ESV)

These fives steppingstones, you must overcome to move forward in the vision and purpose God has for you.

Proverbs 16:9 “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” (ESV)
